The fabric is mainly used for tunics, skirts and dresses, but also for shirts, lingerie and children's clothing. The fabric also functions well as a lining material. So you can go in all directions with rayon!

Count Hilaire von Chardonnet, a French scientist and industrialist, was credited for making the first marketable synthetic fiber in 1884. Unfortunately, the fabric was flammable, so it didn’t take off. The German Bemberg Company developed a safer process for producing rayon in 1890, referred to as cuprammonium. 

Advantages and disadvantages of fiber blends

Both rayon and cotton are great options for soft blouses. Rayon has a more luxurious feel, while cotton has a more relaxed feel. Ultimately, the best option will depend on the individual’s style preference and the climate in which they live.

Easy Maintenance: Fabrics that are easy to wash and require minimal ironing are preferred. Polyester and polyester blends are low-maintenance and wrinkle-resistant.
